Jean-Louis Micha
Jean-Louis Micha was born in 1979 in Liège, where he lives and works. Drawing has become central to his practice, liberated from narrative, human figure, and traditional composition, and developed into a precise, penetrating engagement with his subjects. Micha’s charcoal drawings explore the tension between the public and private, the familiar and the symbolic, often revealing the interplay of memory, media, and emotion. Works presented in “Considérations domestiques (provisoires)” (Rossicontemporary, Brussels, 2019) and “Le dernier éteint la lumière” (with Rik De Boe, Rossicontemporary, Brussels, 2024) and “J’hésite pour le tulipes” (Modulab, Metz, 2025) navigate these dualities, allowing silences, absences, and subtle ruptures to emerge, offering a nuanced reflection on everyday life and its layered complexities.
