P.B. Van Rossem (born in 1953) lives and works near Brussels. Over decades, Van Rossem has developed a singular abstract vocabulary characterized by meticulous geometric constructions, intricate layering, and a rhythmic interplay of color, form, and texture. His work draws inspiration from everyday observation, humanism, science, poetry, and music, ranging from jazz and world music to Bach and Scarlatti, influencing both the tempo and atmosphere of his compositions. Van Rossem works primarily on panels of varying formats, embracing the imperfections of his supports - using found supports such as discarded wood, cardboard, formica - as integral to the artwork’s final composition. Au fil des décennies, Van Rossem a développé en peinture et en sculpture un vocabulaire abstrait singulier, caractérisé par des constructions géométriques minutieuses, des superpositions complexes et un jeu rythmique et musical de couleur, de forme et de texture. Van Rossem travaille principalement sur des supports trouvés de bois, de carton, de formica etc.— dont les imperfections inspirent les motifs et les couleurs de la peinture et deviennent ainsi partie intégrante de la composition finale.
