David Quinn
David Quinn was born in 1971 in Dublin and lives and works in the Irish countryside. He creates small-format abstract paintings, often 20 x 14.5 cm – but also recently new large formats on canvas – that function as units of time, repetition, and meditation. Working on several pieces simultaneously, Quinn layers, erases, and builds each work as a reflection of process and contemplation, exploring the impermanence and subtle beauty of everyday experience, influenced by Wabi-sabi principles. Recent solo exhibitions include “Refuge” and “Verse” at Rossicontemporary, Brussels, “Painting” at Gana Art Nineone, Seoul (2023), and “Cloghan” at Anima Mundi, St. Ives (2022). His work is held in a large number of public and corporate Irish collections and private collections worldwide. Quinn’s paintings are quiet, tactile, and deliberate, merging instinctive mark-making with a refined sense of rhythm and abstraction, inviting viewers into a space of reflection and subtle resonance.
